Future Convention: 2010 Dallas Texas

Dear Fellow AFMCites

First i would like to extend a hearty thanks to the convention organising team of deepak kapila , raghav seth , baldev singh and their families in Fort Lauderdale. They proved once again that AFMC get togethers are the ultimate fun in the world. Right from the choice of the resort to the events and the menu choices it was total FUN. The educational sessions and discussions on philosophy were great and the midnight antakshari and karyoke by gs multani was enjoyed till the wee hours in the am....thank you guys once again.
i want to take this opportunity to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the host commitee.
Regarding business, it was a productive meeting. we have decided to move to the next level and make it a stronger organisation.
1. we will have a website up and running in the next 90 to 120 days.we will proceed with this in the next 2 weeks and Omar Majid will have something up in 2 months.

2. we have decided to proceed with a part time person in dallas to get the info for the web site as well as get the data base together. this is expected to cost about 3000 a year and the money will be withdrawn from the investment account. The website will enable us to have cash positive meetings and also improve our data base collection and info dissemination.
We will also pay to make sure a professional will look into the tax id and tax exempt status. We do have over $120000 in that account and we will use $7500 to 10000 at the max in the next year.
 
3.collection of the database will be done in the following distributions
    batch a to g  by dr batra
    batch h to r  by me
    batch s to z by vivek mehta
    batch a2 onwards will be vishal sagar

4. the meeting next year is in dallas texas...the high temperature was a concern BUT the enthusiasm of the hosts drs  Lahiri, Thomas and the dynamite Vivek Mehta  was very appealing and a lakeside resort with multiple activities is being planned and the brochures will be ready by december to allow all of u to plan the trip and us to raise the funds.we will keep u informed.

5.the meeting in 2011 will be back in florida given the wishes of our hosts...teji from j batch is also considering the west coast of florida.

6.the election was held and unanimously i was asked to lead for another term....however, i think the torch needs to move down to the younger batches.this year suresh malhota and vishal sagar have joined me on the executive but next year i wish to make room for another junior batcher with newer and aggresive ideas to join suresh on the team.
